Loubressac
Location: Overlooking the valley of the Dordogne, not far from Carennac.
Restaurants and shops: There are
hotel restaurants, a general store, and gift shops and cafes open in summer.
In a nutshell: The
village of Loubressac sits in a dominant position high on a rocky outcrop looking
down onto the river Bave and beyond to the Dordogne. A medieval village, there are panoramic views of the
surrounding countryside including the valley of the Dordogne and the château
of Castelnau-Bretenoux. Very picturesque.

From the grassy village centre,
the entry to the old village is via a stone gateway. A relaxing walk through
the narrow streets takes you to the tiny church, built in the 14th and 16th
centuries, and past houses built in the llimestone of the causse, beautifully
preserved and restored.
The 15th century manor house (the one with the best views) is privately owned
and sits behind a magnificent renaissance doorway.
